COURSE FOR RAFTS

The course for the raft races on the lakefront on Saturday has been extended this year and the public should be able to watch the action from various vantage points. The start for all four events will be from a point west of the Lakefront Garage and the finishing line off Tongariro Street. Races one, two and three will be over the waterfront course, but the New Zealand championship, starting at 3 p.m., will run the same leg, turn out into the bay, round a buoy and return to the starting point and then race up the lakefront to the communal finishing line. Eight control boats will be on the water and Public Relations Officer Len Bergman will be in overall control. Henderson Hire Services have donated a cup for the New Zealand championship winner, the Lake Ilotel Cup will go to the victor in the Tongariro Handicap and .the Ray Zander Trophy to the successful women's crew. More about the races on Page 10.
