EIGHT ENTRIES
The Taupo Swimming Club had, at the time this issue went to press, received eight entries for the annual lake swim from Acacia Bay to Two Mile Bay on Sunday. Ewen McCash (15) and Mrs Rae will represent the Taupo area, the remaining competitors coming from other centres. i The swim starts from the Acacia Bay Store beach at
11.30 a.m. and the course must be completed in under three hours. ' * Prizes are awarded for the first man and woman, the first Taupo swimmer and the youngest competitor — 12 years last year. ^ Special towls to mark the achievement are given to each swimmer who completes the course. Because of the cool water some competitors coat themselves in grease. They must all produce a current medical certificate and be accompanied by a boat. Local sponsorship has been promised by Bob Macdonell, Alex Geddis, Fletcher Merchants, Curries Drapery and Christopher Robin. ✓ "
