CHANGES IN COLLEGE XI

New faces are common in most first XI 's in college cricket after the Christmas holidays. This is brought about by the loss of established players and the gaining of "new blood". This applies in the local college first XI. Among the players leaving are John Williamson, Graeme Lindup and Grant Halverson. New faces in the team are J. Symon, M. Tito, S. Thurston and T. Carlton. Although some strong links are being lost to the college team, the potential in the younger players will eventually compensate. Even at this stage players such as Symon and Tito are establishing claims for permanent positions in the team. Players such as these two will, in a year or two, form the backbone of the team which was previously composed of the players who have left school.
