PONY GYMKHANA WAS SUCCESSFUL
Grand weather, excellent ground conditions and a large crowd marked a successful Taupo and District Pony Club gymkhana at Centennial Park, Taupo, on Saturday. Sixty-three mounts competed in 18 pony events and the 11 horse events drew 25 mounts The full programme occupied the whole day and the competition was always keen. Mrs J. Ross on Indian Cast, took the Spa Hotel sponsored open hunter event, and the F.E.I Table A handicap, sponsored by the Lake Hotel, went to Miss S. Baird, on Karena. Miss Baird also won the best hack award. The best paced and mannered pony was Nimbus, ridden by Julene Hayward, while Somin King, on Pride, took the open pony hunter event, sponsored by Wright Stephenson Ltd. Tina, ridden by Relma Dunlop, came out tops in the F.E.I. Table A pony handicap sponsored by Currie's Department Store. Detailed results: Results :- HORSE EVENTS Walk and trot race: Mr M.
