GIRL GUIDES SECRETARY

Miss Mary Hopkirk, M.B.E., has been appointed secretary of the New Zealand Girl Guides Association, to take office on the retirement of Miss Marie Iles, M.B.E. Miss Hopkirk has been a member of the movement for many years, having been a Brownie, Guide and Ranger, and later a voluntary leader. Prior to her selection as national secretary, Miss Hopkirk was a travelling organiser for the New Zealand Girl Guides Association and visited all parts of New Zealand, promoting and developing the movement. She has been awarded the j Silver Fish, the highest Girl j Guide honour, and created a i Member of the Order of the ; British Empire for her serJ vices to youth.
