SPONSORS FOR RAFT RACES
A number of rafts are under construction in and around Taupo for next Saturday's aquatic attraction on the lake, a series of raft races including a national championship.
The one in our picture is being made by Mr Howard Milne and will represent Fletchers in all events. Different crews will staff the raft which will be powered by two paddles and two oars. Considerable interest is being shown in the regatta and numerous outside entries are anticipated. Public Relations Officer Len Bergman has been notified by his Whakatane counterpart of at least three rafts, including one crewed by women, for the occasion. But the problem is the lack of sponsors for the various events. Local businesshouses should jump on the band waggon.
A trophy and/or monetary donations would assure the success of the regatta and would guarantee its continuation as one of the major attractions of the ChristmasNew Year holiday period.
