DEERSTALKERS TO MEET
IN COMPETITION
A team of Taupo Deerstalker Club members will compete in an inter-branch team shoot over 200 yards and at running pig targets at
{ Putaruru on February 7. The Taupo team will include: N. Blair, though relatively inactive on the competitive scene lately, has been recording good scores at practice. J. Keely, always reliable in _ / top competition. 4 . R. Dodunski, who has been shooting extremely well lately and who has numerous competition victories to his credit. G. Anderson, a consistent scorer. G. Boyd, new on the competitive scene but scoring well. rr W. Porteous, a member of last year's team and a consistent rifleman. Taupo finished second in the inter-branch shoot last year, just three points behind ^ Rotorua, and the improvement in individual performances gives hope of top ranking this time. NATIONALS Team members have been practising for the last three weeks for the national championships, to be held at New Plymouth on March 6 and 7. Prizes worth over $2000, including seven rifles, will be at stake. * Keely has shone in the last two nationals, especially in the standing events, and N. Blair is in the top 10 in New Zealand in the running boar shoot. David Kirk will be competing in his first national competition. This 13-year-old should hold his own against opponents up to 21 years in the junior sections.
