TREAT FOR AUDIENCE

The Johnny Devlin Inter- ? national Family Spectacular in the Taupo War Memorial [>" Hall last week was described by both audience and performers as "fantastic." It was undoubtedly one of ' the best forms of family en- • . tertainment ever held in Taupo. ' The audience, over 900 strong, was treated to acts i and songs by Nash Chase, the ^ Hogsnort Rupert Group, * « Johnny Devlin and funny man Mike McGowan. ! The v programme catered for all ages and the audience ! responded enthusiastically to „ I participation in sing-a-longs, I hand clapping — some even l became temporary go-go ~ dancers. Because of the unqualified success and the audience participation the organisers pro- « pose making the show an annual event in Taupo. The performers said that, although the audience was not their largest, it was cer- { tainly one of the most appreciative. The show ended at 10 o'clock with the audience re- 4 luctant to leave and the artists swamped with autograph hunters. By 10.30 a dance was ! started with the Transit, the » show's accompanying band, ^.1 playing with guest appear-^ ances by the artists from the main family show. The dance ended at midnight and was well patronised.
