Prizes are worth $1100
Prize money and trophies valued at $1100 will be at stake in the Rothmans power boat races on Lake Taupo on Saturday. There will be three events, over 80 and 40 miles. and a special four miler for craft powered by up to 4^2 h.p. motors. The prize money will be distributed thus: 80 mile: First across the finishing line, $50. Open speed section, first $140, second $70, third $35, fourth $10. Restricted speed section (200 h.p. inboards, 135 h.p. single outboards), first $140, second $70, third $35, fourth $10. Handicap section, first $120, second $60, third $30, fourth $10. 40 mile (60 h.p. outboards, 135 h.p. inboards): Speed section, first $70, second $30, third $20, fourth $10. Handicap section, first $50, second $25 third $15, fourth $10. 4 mile race: First $10, second $6, third $4. All entrants taking more than three hours to complete either the 80 mile or 40 mile courses will be disqualified. Entry is restricted to any pleasure boat 12ft and over in length other than speed boats used for circuit racing.
