What's on in Taupo
The Rothmans power boat races on Saturday should be the highlight of the Publje Relations Office's holiday programme for the next week. But the entertainment is varied and should cater for ail tastes. Bowlers, harriers, boaties and the younger set will be busy. The programme for the next week is: Tonight: Universal Show, featuring Johnny Devlin, Nash Chase and Hogsnort Rupert, in the Memorial Hall; Maori concert, Spa Meeting House. Thursday: Jaycee New Year's Eve dance, Memorial Hall. Friday: Open triples bowling tournament; motor cycle races, Centennial Park; twilight Ten (harrier) races, at the Domain. Saturday: Power boat races over 80 and 40 miles from 1.15 p.m. on the lake. Sunday: Jet boat rally at the lakefront; Bob Charles and John Lister in exhibition golf at Taupo club's links; mixed triples bowls from 1.30 p.m. Monday, January 4: Shell family holiday show, 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 6: Open indoor bowls tournament, Memorial Hall. UPCOMING Saturday, January 9: Picnic races at Centennial Park. Sunday, January 10: Provincial polo championships, Centennial Park.
