CLOTHING TAKEN
The Taupo C.I.B. is currently investigating a number of house burglaries in the northern part of the Taupo township which have been committcd during the past two months. On each occasion the only itcms found to be missing from the houses have been articles oi womcn's clothing, Some of the clothing has been recovered in a damaged condition. In each case the clothing has been taken trom bedroom drawers by the burglar, although there have also been scveral reports of clothing taken from clothes lines in
various paris of the town. Detective R. E. Hawkins said that the C I B. is particularly concerned about the - burglaries and extensive inquiries are being made. The houses choscn by the burglar appear to be those from which the occupants are either away for a short period or on holiday. The burglaries all appear to have been committed at night, he said. Detective Hawkins appealled to all householders to ensure that their homes were properly locked hefore Ieaving. In each of the reported cases entry appeared to have been gained through insecure windows or doors he said.
