BAY COLTS SUFFER LOSS
Bay of Plenty Colts, in which three Taupo players appeared, lost on the first innings in a high scoring representative cricket game against Poverty Bay Colts at Whakatane at the weekend. Poverty Bay scored 251 and 124 for five and Bay of Plenty, at bat only once, compiled 222.
John Williamson hit 48 for Bay of Plenty and Russell Williamson claimed 2-66 in Poverty Bay s first innings. The other Taupo representative was Brett Williamson, who got started with the bat but failed to go on to a big total.
