Residents from Rickit Street who recently presented a petition to the council's works committee requesting council consideration for sealing or metalling of the high

level access to their properties are to be advised that the sealing will have to wait until further progress has been made with the sealing of the remaining 11 miles of unsealed borough streets. In the meantime the access road is to be graded and metalled in order to minimise erosion. * sjc * Mr A. Donaldson, building inspector, was authorised to attend a dangerous goods inspectors' training course to be held at Bulls from March 1 to March 5. * * * A tender of $5250 submitted by C. Bridgeman Ltd for the supply and delivery of 1000 cubic yards of sealing chips was accepted by the council. Three tenders were submitted. * * * The council decided to purchase two sections from the Mt Tauhara Estate Trust for $24,000. The land was required for the siting of water reservoirs and for the development of a scenic lookout from Tamatea Street extension. Some of the land could be utilised for future housing. * * * Consent to establish four motel units and a manager's residence at 112 Roberts Street was granted by the council subject to building conditions being met.
