Refrain— or leave
The Mayor of Taupo, Mr J. E. Story, was asked to refrain from interjecting or leave the chamber at a sitting of the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board in Taupo this week. The request was made by the board's acting chairman, Mr K. O. Stephens, after Mr Story, from the gallery, commented on a question asked of the borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, by Mr N. T. Gillespie, counsel for the appellant company, T. A. Heath Ltd. Mr Kiddle was invited to comment on the borough council's knowledge of geothermal activity in Taupo. Mr Story: "We have a thorough knowledge of the geothermal activity in Taupo. We're not a bunch of nits." Mr Stephens then asked His Worship to refrain from interrupting or leave the chamber.
