WHAT'S ON
While not classed as sport, the annual Carols by Candlelight on Sunday night will be the major activity in Taupo this weekend. Sport continues in all spheres but most competition play will cease for the holiday period. The weekend programme: SATURDAY Swimming: Tele-Printer finals at Morrinsville — four Taupo swimmers competing. Softball: Juniors in the morning, senior women and men from 1 p.m. — Domain. Cricket: Second day of first series in second round. College 55 for 3 versus Wanderers 210; College Old Boys 73 for 2 verses Taupo 208 for 4 declared. Bowls: Club play. Tennis: Junior coaching and competitions (morning). SUNDAY Bowls: Pairs championships continue from 9.30 a.m. Gliding: Club activities on Centennial Park. Yachting: Racing on the lake through out the day.
