FIRST FULL-TERM PUPILS GRADUATE
The 1970 year breakup ceremony yesterday marked the passing-out of the first full time foundation pupils, Taupo Intermediate School principal, Mr R. Williams, told the 150 parents present. He said he was proud of the majority of the children and was sure they would not let him, the school or their parents down. Not all have profited, unfortunately, as there had been m&ny cases of truancy, vandalism, bullying and police interviews. The staff were also spending too much time on disciplinary problems. The school opened in 1969 with a roll of 483 and 13 classrooms. The expected roll for, 1971 will be over 620 and the school will have 17 classes. Several pupils gave reports on various aspects concerned with school life. Two features of the function were the girls mannequin parade and a recital by the school orchestra.
Presentations were made to parents who had assisted with the running of the school.
