DESPERATE MEASURES
This petrol station owner was determined to foil thieves. His place in Indianapolis had been robbed nine times in 1969. In desperation the operator installed a locked, castiron safe on the petrol-pump island. He instructed the attendants to accept only the exact amount for petrol, to refuse to give change, and to put the money through a slot into the safe. So far in 1970, there have been no robbery attempts at the service station.
