LAUGHTON HALL

The recently-opened St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Hall in Taupo will be named Laughton Hall, subject to the approval of the family of the late Rev. J. G. Laughton. Mr Laughton, who died earlier this year, was Presbyterian minister in Taupo from 1926 to 1938. He laid the foundation stone of the new hall last year. The second minister in charge of the Taupo parish, Mr Laughton succeeded the late Rev. Fletcher, who eontrolled the parish from 1895 to 1925. Mr Fletcher's name is commemorated in the hall in Kaimanawa Street which is the property of Presbyterian Maori Mission.
