W. J. And Mrs Shaw Won The

Patron's Trophy

W. J. and Mrs Shaw won the final of the Patron's Trophy, a mixed four-ball handicap matchplay event, at the Taupo Golf Club on Sunday with an 7 and 6 win over H. F. and Mrs Fearn. The Shaws were in virtually unbeatable form over the first nine holes and

built up an unassailable lead. Mrs Shaw had a net two at the third, a net one at the fourth and a net two at the fifth. Her husband carded a net three at the sixth and was better than net par figures for the remaining holes. Stableford competitions on Sunday resulted: Men, G. F. Barlow 37, on the count - back from B. Halverson 37; ladies, Mrs Porter 35. Prize-winners in the twos competition were G. F. Barlow, J. Watson, J. Wragge and W. Hindmarsh. K. Stewart and D. Cameron won a four-ball stableford event on Saturday with 43 points. Men's stableford competitions resulted: A grade, J. McMaster jun. 39, H. Hawkes 38; B grade, R. Davis 38, on the count - back from M. J. Morel 38. K. Stewart was the sole prize-winmer in the twos competition.
