"Inaccurate And Misleading"
Says Council
A report by the Waikato Valley Authority on the attitude of Taupo County Council to conservation funds spent in the county was "full of inaccuracies and misleading," memb-ers of the council claimed on Tuesday. The authority made a statement in the newspapers following a meeting held in Taupo last month at which Taupo, Rotorua and Taumarunui County Councils were represented, along with Taupo Borough Council. Under the signature of Mr J. H. McKenzie, the secretary of the authority, the press report claimed that
Taupo and Rotorua counties were demanding an expanded soil conservation service in their areas to give personal and quicker service to their individual ratepayers. The report, a copy of which the council discussed on Tuesday, went further and set out to prove the councils received good value for payments made. "Inaccurate and misleading," commented Cr R. B. Dick. Crs M. J. Black and U. R. MacDonald agreed with him. The council received the letter and advised the authority that because of the inconsistencies it required more time to consider the matter.
