Re-application For Diner Is
Approved
Taupo Borough CounciFs decision to decline an application to operate a mobile diner in Taupo prompted the applicant to express "intense disappointment" in a second letter to the council meeting on Monday. The applicant, Mr R. R. Lane, told the council he wished to renew his application and appear in support of it. He also said he was prepared to site the diner in whatever place the council thought most suitable, and would co-operate in all respeets. At the meeting Cr W. L. Haines suggested re-consid-
eration be given to the application by the general purposes committee and that Mr Lane be allowed to make personal application. Cr J. M. Stanley said it was only right that Mr Lane should meet the council as a whole so that the press and public would have the opportunity to hear the submissions. Council decided Mr Lane eould renew his application at a future meeting.
