False Cheques

Charges against Mikaeretetourangi Heta for issuing a false cheque for £585/10/- to buy a car from Johnstone Motors Ltd., Taupo, and nine other charges resulted in his conviction in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court, on Monday. Mr L. M. Inglis, S.M., who heard the case, remanded Heta for sentence until today. Heta, 37, workman of no fixed abode, also issued false cheques in shops and hotels in Taupo, Te Kuiti and Kihikihi. The total sum involved in false cheque charges is £640. He also pleaded guilty to obtaining three sums of money totalling £12/4/3 by false pretences. Heta was located in possession of the car by the Te Awamutu police on Aug- . ust 10.
