CHILDREN DAMAGE PIPES

More than 2000 feet of stormwater pipes have been laid in Taupo borough since the beginning of the month, reported the borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, to Monday's meeting oi the Taupo Borough Council. He said the work is being done in Scannell, Wheretia, Heathcote and Laughton Streets. Mr Kiddle told the council he was experiencing trouble with children throwing stones and breaking one of the water mains on the job. "If parents would keep an eye on their children it would save the council money," he said. "I have had to make a personal appeal to some parents in the area and if children are caught the parents will be held responsible," he concluded.
