Council Plans Lighting Of

Huka Falls

Plans for lighting the Huka Falls are to be drawn up by Taupo Borough Council. The council has already contacted the firm which under took the lighting of Niagara Falls requesting information. Cr Marlow said the Mayor, Mr J. E. Story, had brought the matter up years ago but it was not possible to do anything because of finance. In the past the council had not done any job "half pie," he said. No figures had I vet come to hand, but it

would cost thousands to do. the job. However, the National Roads Board was going to spend a lot of money on re: aligning the main highway. The council was, therefore, going to draw up a plan in the hope that N.R.B. and the Tourist Department would pay for the work.
