WIDER SCOPE ADVOCATED FOR TAUPO YACHT CLUB

An expression of pleasure at the renewed interest in "P" class sailing over the past season was made by the retiring commodore of the Taupo Yacht Club, Mr H. Philpott, in his report to last week's annual meeting of the club. Mr Philpott said that while the club, had catered well for yacht racing, and other organisations had administered water ski-ing and speed-boat racing, as yet no one has helped the owners of small, private power boats. He hoped to see the club provide an event for power boats this coming season.

After five years "at the helm" and having been vicecommodore for the club in its first year, Mr Philpott declined nomination for a further term as commodore, but he has remained on the committee. Mr Philpott is also a delegate for the club and for the Bay of Plenty Yacht and PowTer Boat Association to the yachting federation.
