MODEL CAR CLUB MAY BE FORMED

Model car enthusiasts in Taupo will be given the opportunity of forming a slot car club at a meeting which has been called for next week.

It is hoped the club will cater to family groups, as well as youths and adults, and the meeting will discuss setting up a track in Taupo. Slot car racing, the biggest participant sport in the United States, is fast becoming popular in New Zealand and tracks and clubs are being formed in almost every town of any size. The annuat turnover of money spent on the sport in the U.S. last year exceeded 351 million dollars. The meeting called to form the Taupo Club will be held in the Methodist hall on Thursday, August 26, at 8 p.m.
