SOME TURANGI HOUSES ON THE WRONG SIDE OF MARGINAL SAYS COUNCILLOR
There are some houses i 1 i being built in Turangi which, according to Cr U, It. MacDonald, are on | the wrong side of "marginal". He reminded the Taupo County Council on Tuesday that they had objeeted to Mangakino houses and said that some in Turangi were in the same category. There was so much money being spent by the Government in building Turangi, he thought it should i be used to the best, advant-
age, Cr MacDonald said. Councillors who had seen some »of the houses commented on low stud heights and the smalliiess of some rooms. Cr J. A. Asher suggested. that the building inspector, Mr J. Miles, should "keep an eye on it". Mr Miles explained that he had no jurisdiction in the matter, but he would do what he could and keep the council informed. i Taupo County Council objeeted strenuously to the design of some of the workers* homes at Turangi and received an assurance from the Government that the plans would be amended.
