Sketch Plans For Taupo Hospital Being Drawn

The amended schedule of accommodation for the Taupo general hospital has been approved by the Health Department and the Waikato Hospital Board's architect has begun sketch plans for the building. Announcing this yesterday, the board's representative in Taupo, Mr J. W. Birnie, said the next steps "would be the approval of the sketch plans, the preparation of working drawings and the calling of tenders.

"This is just as much a part of the building as driving the nails," he said in a telephone interview. The site had b-een approved and work was progressing well. "I am very pleased," he added. Progress on the Taupo maternity hospital was satisfactory and discussions were progressing on the TokaanuTurangi hospital.
