Swimming Club Prepares For New Season

The last night for the Taupo Swimming Club sponsored learn-to-swim classes, at the AC Baths, will be held on Tuesday next. Starting on September 14, improver swimmers, who must be members of the club, will take lessons for about a month. After this period the club will revert to training club swimmers for competition events. Two early fixtures will be in November, when the Koutu swimming team from Rotorua will compete in Taupo, and a Taupo return visit to Greerton, Tauranga, The largest number of Taupo members to travel at one time will attend this competition, Club time-keepers, judges, and starters have had considerable experience in teaching young Taupo swimmers, but none of the personnel are qualified for these positions. This has been discussed by the club swimming committee and it is possible that, in future, instructors may be able to sit for examinations. An administrative member of the Bay of Plenty Centre may be asked to take the examinations.
