GUINEAS
Nineteen 2-year-old pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls sold at "Little Taranaki," near Oruanui on Friday realised £4084/1/-, averaging 204 guineas. Top price of 275 guineas was paid for two bulls, one bought by Whangamata Station and the other by Ben Lomond Station. The bulls were offered on behalf of H. M. Besley as one vendor and Besley Brothers as the other vendor together. This was the third sale held in the district by the Besley family and prices were 82 guineas better than last year's average. The bulls were bred at the Woodburn and Windermere Aberdeen Angus Studs and the auction was conducted in conjunction by Dalgety N.Z. Loan Co. Ltd. (Mr P. Brady, Rotorua), Wright Stephenson & Co. Ltd. (Mr J. Shrubsall, Putaruru), and de Pelichet McLeod & Co. Ltd. (Mr
R. W. Klingender, Hastings). Both the top price bulls were from Mr H. M. Besley 's I Woodburn Stud. Prices ranged from one Woodburn bull which made 130 guineas. About 200 people attended the sale and the bulls were keenly sought. Mr J. A. Asher, Turangi, bought four from 190 guineas to 225 guineas.
