Father McKillop Farewelled

A large gathering of parishioners and friends of Father H. McKillop met in St. Patrick's Hall, Taupo, for a presentation and farewell evening last week. Father McKillop will leave Taupo on August 18 on a six-month tour of Scotland. Many residents of Mokai, Wairakei and Aratiatia were present at the evening which was organised by members of the Holy Name Society. Guests were entertained during the evening by Eric Pardon's orchestra and a number of items were given by Mrs P. Potter's choir and members of the Maori choir. A presentation of a travelling bag and travel rug was made by the Mokai Maori people and, toward the end of the evening, Mr J. D. L. Corry presented Father McKillop with a substantiai cheque. S"upp@f Wdg served by women of the parish. Father McKillop, in his reply, said he had enjoyed the four years he had spent in Taupo and he was pleased to know he would be returning after his six months' leave.
