Changes Name

Taupo Borough Council Industrial Promotion Committee has changed Its .name to Industrial and. Tonrist Promotion Committee. The change was agreed to by council last week, after the committee had indicated that the new name would suggest the true function of what the committee was trying * to achieve. The committee has a number of projects on hand which are under discussion. With regard to publicity the committee thinks Taupo could well join with Rotorua to jointly promote the tourist facilities of the area. The committee is of the opinion that there is lack of conference facilities in Taupo but that the proposed youth centre hall could be used for the purpose. As a suggestion in the cause of industrial promotion, the committee thought a booklet on what Taupo area had to offer would be a good idea. Members thought investigation could be made into what types of industry could be attracted.
