FIRST TAUPO STOCK SALE

HELD

The first annual hogget and wether sale in the Taupo district was held at Rangataiki in the lillburn Estate yards on Monday. A total of 9500 sheep was offered, including 6500 top woolly wether hoggets and 3000 two-tooth wethers.

The bulk of the hoggets sold at 80/- to 81/9 and medium hoggets to 73/6. The main line of two-tooth f at and forward wethers was passed in at 58/-. Store wethers sold at 54/-. Buyers came from Wai-I kato, King Country, Hawke's Bay, Rotorua and Taupo and buying was well distributed over these districts. One large line of top sheep was bought by Lochinver Station, Rangitaiki. About 2000 wethers went to Nelson Bros freezing works in Hastings. The sale was conducted on behalf of Lilburn Estate by Dalgety - Loan Company Taupo. Mr Peter Brady, Rotorua, was auctioneer.
