Taupo Won All But One
At Taumarunui
A most enjoyable and successful day's basketball was held at Taumarunui on Saturday. The teams played for the senior A Fenton Cup, senior B Southey Cup, third form Challenge Cup and the Primary School Representative Shield. Taupo was successful in every game except the senior B. The scores were: — Taupo A 17, Taumarunui A 15; Taumarunui B 20, Taupo B 3; Taupo Third Form 26, Taumarunui Third Form 12; Taupo Primary 21, Taumarunui Primary 16. The senior A team, captained by Miss Kapu Simmonds, was evenly matched against Taumarunui and a hard clean game resulted. Senior B, captained by Miss Pam Maher was outclassed. The third form team, captained by Noleen Quinlan, who also played goal-attack,
played a beautiful game. Noleen Quinlan was well supported by goal-shoot, Hinemoa Rameka, and the attacking players. The primary team, captained by Lesley Haycock, played extremely well and goal-shoot, Irene Ngamotu, goaled consistently.
