VOICE OF THE CHURCHES

Sir,— I must take umbrage at the opinions expressed by Mr F. N. Mercer in your Voice of the Churcbes column. Surely, his God is not the God I know, forgiving, just and wise? I would suggest that the people who cannot look the future in the face are the bigots, the people who take on themselves the cloak of Christianity yet scorn others for their lack of faith. They remind me of the parable of the pharisee and the publican — "God I thank thee that I am not as other men are ..." (Luke 18: 10-14) "Judge not and ye shall not be judged" says the Bible. Is this not the other face of God? — Yours, etc.,

L. B.

LEWIS.
