Austerity Meal Likely For
Rotarians
Members of the Taupo Rotary Club are likely to eat a frugal meal in January next and the saving in cost will go towards the maintenance of orphan children overseas. The proposal was adopted at a club assembly on Thursday night, when it was suggested that a meal of tea and buns, or something similar, would result in a substantial saving in the cost of the meal normally served. The club service committee was empowered to organise the proposal.
For some years the club has maintained two children in an S.O.S. orphans' village in Austria and the meeting agreed to continue this support. Approval was expressed for the adoption of further orphan children at an S.O.S. village in Korea and it is likely that the money saved by the "austerity" meal will be used.
