Dogs Provide Subject Of Petition

A petition is being sent to the Taupo County Council protesting at wandering dogs in Korari Crescent and Matipo Street, Mangakino. Forwarded on behalf of the petitioners by Mr A. B. Wood, it states: "The residents of Korari Crescent and Matipo Street, Mangakino, wish to draw your attention to the dog menace in this region. For several months one or two dogs have had the run of the place, frightening adults and children and killing household pets. More recently the number has grown to at least seven dogs, perhaps two with collars. Now children are getting bitten, clothes are being torn off the line and all persons are being threatened, especially the postman. "At least one person is scared to go shopping and the pleasure of living here is spoiled by these wandering dogs. Gardens are being ruined and hedges damaged. "I am sending you the signatures of at least 12 persons, heads of families, who demand the immediate destruction of these animals. Nothing less will satisfy."
