Professional Business Sites
TURANGI.
(OC)
Sites other than those advertised for shops at Turangi have been allocated to the power board, the Bank of New Zealand, the Bank of New South Wales and the National Bank of New Zealand. There will also be a block erected for lease which will provide for a jeweller's shop, footwear shop and fruiterer. Nearly 100 sites were sougfrt by the applicants in
all, and while some of these were for shops to lqase the applications generally were from businessmen who have considerable experience in the types of business they wish to establish in Turangi. With the limited frontage available and the number of applicants wishing to build and open their own shops the Land Settlement Board was not able to consider applications for sites for lease shops. This was with the exception of one group, where an allocation was made a» they were representatives of former land owners. Other applications in this category may be reviewed, however, when it becomes more apparent that further shops or types of shops are required- to meet the needs of the town.
