Entertainment
Taupo Maori Youth ciuo provided entertainment in the town to varied audiences in the course of the year. This was s'hown in the annual report of the president, Mr T. A. Kapua. He said the club had, on several occasions, entertained delegates at conferences held at the Wairakei Hotel. Por this entertainment the Tourist Department makes a donation of £20 toward the club funds. Sometimes overseas visitors see member's acts and this was the case when Asian students were billeted with Taupo Rotarians. Items were provided by the club for the visitors in the Lake Hotel. Other individuals and organisations to be entertained by the group in the past : year included a short concert for the Taupo Lions Club, a variety concert to raise money for the Ross Shield schoolboy football teams and entertainment for Father Tate, the second Maori priest to be ordained. One of the latest public performances given by the club was at the opening of 1ZA in Taupo. On that occasion members entertained official guests of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation.
