Third Round Of Presidents

There was excellent scoring at the Taupo Golf Club on Saturday when the third round of the president',s trophy was decided in conjunction with an A and B grade medal. J. McMaster jun. was round in 74 to card a nett 67 to win the grade event. W. J. Shaw had a fine round of 91 from a 15 handicap to win the B grade medal with a nett 66. The president's trophy is decided on the best three of four medal rounds. The fourth round will be held later in the season. The A grade stableford was won by J. McMaster jun., with 41 points. The runner-up was C. B. Lowes, 37 points. W. J. Shaw's card of 42 points gave him an easy win dn the B grade stableford. The runner-up was D. Pattenden with 34 points. A two's competition at the 11th hole was won by J. McMaster jun. On Sunday afternoon the second group of the Winter Cup stableford competition
was completed. E. M. Smith was the -winner. The 18 holes stableford was won by H. Thompson with T. Clapperton runnerup. A ladies' stableford event was annexed by Mrs G. F. Barlow. Prize-winners in a two's competition were J. F. Watson and L. H. Cheal. Handicap changes announced: W. J. Shaw, 15 to 14; R. Wilson, 24 (new handicap); R. W. Weir, 15 to 16; E. Vernall, 21 to 22; C. Breeds, 13 to 14; F. B. Dawson, 22 to 21; J. Sabota, 20 to 17; R. Simons, 16 to 15; T. G. Price, 19 to 18; T. D. Price, 30 to 28; I. Lawson, 31 to 29; G. Dimmock, 19 to 18.
