WILL SPEND £152,065 ON ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT
Draft estimates for receipts and expenditure for the Taupo electricity undertaking for 1965-66 were approyed at £152,065 and £146?004, subject to the provis^m of £3500 for general re^serves, when Taupo Borough Council met on Monday night. A survey of charges- made ! for farm supply has been 1 completed and it has been ! found that in many cases a
change in wiring arrangements would overcome the present position of several accounts to one consumer. Where this is possible, the consumer will be notified. A draft report on the question of power distribution throughout the borough and county was considered and it was decided to secure an independent report if possible. Work to the value of £17,550 has now been completed an the second Hinemaiaia power station projeet. Work is continuing on the dam and spillway site and the first 50 feet of 7ft. 6in. conduit has been poured. Clearing of the future lake bed was continued. The debit balance in the electricity account at March 31 was £12,204, compared with £24,783 estimated last year. This year's estimates allow for a debit of £6143.
