President's Team Wins Golf Match
After an exciting struggle which was decided only by the last pair to finish, the president's team beat the captain's side by one point at the Taupo Golf Club on Saturday. Men and ladies took part in the event, which was, decided on a match-play basis. A successful social function was held in the evening. Stableford competitions held in conjunction resulted: A grade men, W. Dolman 41, V. Wilson 39; B grade men, J. McDougall 42 on count-back from J. A. King 42; ladies, Mrs Howell 35, Mrs M. Ingle 31. Prize-winners in a two's competition were G. Barlow7, E. Smith, J. A. King, G. Marsland, V. Wilson, C. Letford and W. Dolman. H. Mullins was the winner of a stableford competition on Sunday afternoon with 40 points. M. J. Morel, 38f was runner-up. Taupo was beaten in an inter-club shield match with Putaruru on Sunday. Playing at Putaruru, Mrs G. Colbeck, Mrs G. Barlow and G. Barlow were the only winners among the 11 men and eight ladies who represented Taupo.
