AIR MAIL SERVICE GROWING
The recent arrangement ! made between the Post loffice and South Pacific Airllines of New Zealand Limited !(Spanz), is an important one for Ihe Taupo district. A milestone in the history j ;of the district will be reach-s ed on June 28, when thei first air mail service is j instituted. "On that day, the Spanz flight will leave Taupo air- | port with mails for both north and south.
The question of extending the. air mails between Taupo and other places served by Spanz was recently reviewed and on May 10, air mails to Wellington, Christchurch, Invercargill, Rotorua and Auckland were inaugurated.
When the airport at Taupo is opened, that place will be included in the air mail sehedule. Since the introduction of these services, the public is gradually becoming air conscious and it is expected that increasing use of the air mails will be made as time goes on.
