MoW Film On Tongariro

An impressive Ministry of Works publicity film on the Tongariro power project was screened at the weekly tea meeting of the Taupo Rotary Club on Thursday night. The film dealt with New Zealand's overall power problem and showed in detail plans for the development of the Tongariro project. Introducing the film, the public relations officer for the Tongariro project, Mr S. Murphy, said it was one of the most fascinating and complex water control schemes ever undertaken in New Zealand. The project would incorporate 32 miles of tunnels and seven dams.
