MEETINGS WOMEN'S

ORUANUI W.D.P.F. A good gathering of Oruanui W.D.F.F. members met in Wairakei Hall for their June meeting, Mrs K. McCreadie presiding. Those present were happy to have Mrs Ray Young with them on this occasion. Business for the evening was briefly disposed of, and Christmas cards for making scrap-books were handed in for the roll call. The main item on the programme was a most interesting and helpful talk on planting shrubs and trees, by Mr K. Young, of Taupo. Mr Young advised members on the most suitable varieties for this district. He also answered a number of questions, and members expressed their appreciation to him and to his wife, whose experience with many shrubs was of the greatest help. A most enjoyable evening ended with supper, hostesses being Mrs M. Hammond and Mrs D. Tunnicliffe. A display of old-fashioned jewellery brought along by members caused much interest. The floral competition was won by Mrs J. Hodgson, for single and cluster blooms. Mrs K. Jones won the competition for the shrub.
