Three Films Shown

Three films were shown at the meeting of the Taupo Affiliated Film Society, last week. The first film was one of the early Charlie Chaplin classics, "The Champion," which showed a boxing pantomime performed in a hilarious manner. In the second film entitled "Very Nice, Very Nice," a series of still pietures were shown and accompanied by fragments of speech and, between times, halting applause and a voice saying "very nice, very nice.". From the novel by Liam O'Flaherty came the main film of the evening, "The Informer." Directed by John Ford, this film was an example of near-perfect union of theme and structure. It was complete simplicity, unspoiled by deviations and sub-plots.
