The first happy family in their new home with Mrs Rona Stevenson , M.P. for Taupo. In these houses our own staff did the following work: Timber cartage, pre-cutting, complete building, most of roofing, joinery , glazing, interior cupboards, interior doors, part of gibraltar board stopping, brickwork, solid plastering , part of blockwork, painting, paperhanging, part of plumbing, part of drainage, clotheslines, front and back fences and gates. We are grateful to the following sub-contractors for their part: D. A. McLeod, M. Orr, part roofs; Reid & Garlick, part gibraltar board stopping; lan Calkin, part plumbing; Taupo Heating & Plumbing, Robinson Floor Sanding, Tokoroa Floor Sander, N. Sawers, footpaths; J. Bracewell, part blockwork; J. Ellers, soil drainage. These houses were handed over two days after power and water were connected, an achievement of which we are all proud.
