BIG PROBLEM IN LACK OF
CLASSROOMS
Taupo-nui-a-Tia College will not, in the forseeable future, have sufficient permanent classrooms to house its pupils. This was revealed on Tuesday night when the ! Board of Governors con- ; sidered a report on past, j present and future figures. ! The report showed a gradual decline in the number of permanent rooms available, compared with
those required. The following figures deal with the situat.ion: —
The board discussed the "ridiculous situat-ion" which arose with the building programme at the college, in particular the short- j sighted building of only j the first half of the' Nelson j block, with the second half | to be huilt in the future.. This would cost New Zealand an additional £12,000 because the whole job was not done at once. "We eannot get the Education Department to look further than 12 months ahead," the chairman, Mr C. S. Currie, later told the "meeting. .
