Learn-To-Swim Classes Are Praised
The learn to swim classes at the Taupo AC Baths had heeii a huge success with aii average of 43 childreii attendiug the first three lessons, said the haths luanager, Mr H. E. Cox; in his report to Taupo Borough Couiicil. ''The first adult learn- toswim class was held on May 4 and, subject to sufficient response, these classes for both adults and children will be carried on until the end of August, with the exception of the holiday periods," Mr Cox said. "Several of the senior swimmers are having three training periods a week and swim up to one and a-half miles on each of these days. j "The Taupo Swiinming i Club committee wishes I me to convey to couiicil its appreciation and thanks for the response council has shown to requeste for use of the baths by the club. "So far not more than three people, on any Tuesday, have been refused use of the pool because of the club's activities. On most occasions these people were content to watch the swimming until the pool became available," he said. Mr Cox said facilities at the haths were improved during April and the month was free from accidents or complaints. More than 14,600 people 1 used the haths during the month and receipts from ticket saies amounted to £670/19/3.
