RADIO IN 1929
In 1929 four privatelyowned companies were ; broadcasting continuous ra- 1 dio programmes between j 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day. | One company was located in Auckland, the others in j Wellington, Christchurch j and Dunedin. At that time 12 private | stations were in operation. By 1932, when legislation was enacted to give the New Zealand Broadcasting Board authority to develop radio broadcasting nationally, there were 32 privately-owned stations.
